i loooove c.s. lewis and the chronicles of narnia. the biblical symbolism gives me goosebumps and its generally just an amazing series. after re-reading the series again this year, i began to see this world every time i stepped outside. about a month ago i went ice-fishing with a couple friends and my sister and we pretended we narrated our walk as if we were in the book.
i live in the most beautiful place in the world.. how many times can i say it? <3
every year in fernie new people wander in looking to snowboard or ski for the winter. we get an absurb amount of powder snow every year and since you can live here cheaper than whistler, we get hundreds of aussies and kiwis every year. a kiwi friend of mine has introduced me to some huge cultural differences between canada and new zealand and i'm fascinated by the country now.
one of the coolest parts of kiwi culture is the maori people who were the natives of new zealand before it was settled by europe. rugby is to new zealand like hockey is to canada or football is to the states and the all blacks rugby team perform a haka before every game.
this is the war dance, but they have many different kinds of dances in the maori culture. i just love how intimidating this is, it's like every single muscle in their body is tensed up.
add seeing this in person to the list of things to do before i die :)
anyone seen the ads for gnomeo & juliet? i've had an obsession with gnomes since i was about six years old, i asked my mom to put some in our yard for years. when i was thirteen i painted one with my best friend at one of those pottery places and we named him mcgillicutty. needless to say, this movie is one thing i am definitely looking forward to this year.
here are some wonderful little gnome wants on etsy
i love when i'm blonde. i, like most have had every "natural" hair colour known to mankind, and i'm always happiest when i'm blonde. the problem is, my hair pulls gold. going blonde is quite the process. today has been a day of frustration and tears (yes i'm dramatic) but tomorrow all will be well.
so i (sort of) recently moved back home, to the beautiful little town of fernie, british columbia. i lived in calgary and victoria for a while, but nothing compares to the mountains! after doing nothing but sewing and reading for months and months (i know, living the life hehe) i decided i need to get a job. i've worked supervisory positions at every job i've had but they all tended to be fast food or movie stores and i never had to worry about the uniform as it was provided. getting back into the workforce with a desk job is proving difficult regarding clothes, my closet is empty of anything professional. while browsing urban outfitters, i came across these gems! might stop by the store when i visit edmonton this weekend for the edmonton oilers vs nashville predators (yay!) but more on that later.
